Mollie's Approach
Mollie is a provisionally licensed mental health practitioner who has served children and families throughout her career as a classroom teacher, high ability/gifted coordinator, and school-based therapist. Mollie has over 15 years of experience working with children and is currently in training to become a Registered Play Therapist.
Mollie employs a person-centered approach to therapy, which means she believes the individual is the expert on their life experience. Mollie strives to create a welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental space for her clients to help them expand their self-awareness, cope with life challenges, and recognize their strengths and capabilities.
“Toys are the children’s words and play is their language.” – Gary Landreth
Mollie’s current training in child-centered play therapy recognizes that the natural language of children is play. The approach has an extensive range of research supporting its effectiveness in helping address a wide variety of concerns in children. Child-centered play therapy utilizes play as a means for the child to express themselves, engage with others, and explore their feelings and thoughts without verbalizing them, as that is often developmentally difficult for a child.
